Everyone would like to learn how to Register a free domain names sooner or later because it is obviously cheaper than paying for one. Of course, cheaper is not always better, but I will get into that in a minute. As with any other domain name, when you register a free domain name there will be a price to pay for it, even if it is not a monetary one. Better yet, there is more like a catch.
When you register a free domain name there are quite a few catches that go with it. I have tried the so called 'free' domain names and all I got was an extremely long URL, banner ads, and a bandwidth cut off point that almost made having a domain name pointless. It is advertised as free and as usual the old adage was proven true; 'you get what you pay for'. Boy did I ever.
The free domain registration was riddled with problems from the start. I chose to try it out at 50megs.com and tripod.com. First of all, 50megs.com wouldn't even let me open the web space with the registered domain name unless I paid for it. That was hardly free. At Tripod, I did actually get the free web space and domain name, but the website was so plagued by ads that I thought I was actually advertising for them rather than creating my own web space. Uploading time took quite a while as well.
