There is More Than One Kind of Web Server

There are two quite popular web servers out there today. One of which you will know right away and another which you may or may not have heard of already. Windows and Linux. These are the two main servers that almost every web hosting company offers for their consumers. Each carry the same options and services for their clients, but at different capacities.

Each of these web servers, offer different level of hosting and different quantities. The reason they are both so popular, is because of the many options that they offer their customers.

Dedicated and Non-Dedicated Web Server

In the business of web servers, there can be dedicated and non-dedicated servers. This is referring to the amount of web sites that are inputted into these servers. A dedicated server is literally dedicated to one web site and only that one site. This will ensure that the web site's performance is as high as it can be. A non-dedicated web server means that there are hundreds of web sites using the same server. This is what the normal web site is on, it is only the super high traffic web sites that need to have their own server to ensure their high quality hosting.
