The internet seems to have a language of its own, so what is a domain name anyway? For some people this language might as well be completely different from English! With a little explanation, the language of the internet is not as hard to understand as you may think.
If you were to look in any online dictionary to find the definition of "Domain" you would find this explanation: "a subset of the internet with addresses sharing a common suffix". After reading this, you may still be slightly confused! So here is the simple definition as to what "Domain Name" really means. A domain is basically an address, a name, that you type into the web and it will direct you the the proper website.
When you begin your process of selecting a domain name for your product, business or personal web site, you must choose carefully. You may choose to use the name of your product or business, but if that name is not popular or branded already then you may be buying yourself a useless domain. By selecting an already well used domain, this will help your website collect the high amount of traffic that it deserves.
Also, it is always smart to have a group of possible domain name selections at your disposal because there is always a high chance that the domain name you want is already in use or has already been purchased by someone prior to you.
