Choosing your web server can be a daunting experience. Many people who were once very excited to start their own web page found out the hard way that not doing their homework on potential web servers left them with nothing to show for their money than an lighter wallet.
Web server scams are an easy scam to pull off because many of the people who run them are counting on their victims' lack of interest in reading long and small-fonted service agreements. It is a proven fact that when the terms of service etc. are written in small fonts and are extremely long, the average person barely sifts or glances through them. this leaves the web server with a lot of leeway in what is written in them. The fact is, it also leaves many customers with discontinued or expired websites.
1. The bait and switch: This is when you are drawn in by flashy advertising and promises of excellent or over the top services for minimal prices. Of course, once you have signed up and made payments, you learn that it was an introductory offer and the prices will be raised. Usually this happens when it too late for you to back out or after you have signed on to a year long contract.
2. The Rope a Dope: This web server will lure you with no contracts and good prices offer services, but the extra hidden fees and maintenance charges are astronomical. This scam works best for sites that require you to give over your financial information for automatic money removal that places in the middle of finely printed service agreements that monetary removal amounts may vary at their discretion.
Although you may think that you have agreed to a certain amount of money being removed at certain times, you have actually granted them the right to take as much money as they please at those certain times.
