Why would a college student need web hosting? Simple. Many universities now require students to regularly maintain web sites for class projects, for resume purposes and even for an overall college project finished only when a degree is placed into their hands. In todays's day and age, a web site can reach more people than even an e-mail in a single day; thus, universities are investing in teaching students that they need to not only create but maintain a web page themselves for various uses.

Many colleges have even gone so far as to provide required classes in web design, web page tips and tricks and other various resume building classes all revolving around the internet. Web hosting, as you can see, will play a very important part in building this type of resume on the world wide web for current and future employers to peruse.

Do universities provide web hosting?

Most universities that require students to have a web page will generally provide the hosting for it. If not, they will provide relatively cheap alternatives for students so that they don't have to dig too deep into their pockets. However, for the most part, the universities are more than willing to provide unlimited storage and bandwidth for students to take part in. All they have to do is ask, and many students sadly, begin to invest in paid services instead of using the free web hosting services right before them.
