Using a web host directory has one major benefit: It saves you valuable time trying to surf through boatloads of hosting companies that want your business. This process can be time consuming, stressing and confusing. Directories compile these lists for you, even listing the pros and cons of such services, along with prices and what makes them worth your consideration. Some directories will even go so far as post reviews by current and past customers for perusal by visitors.
Keep in mind, no webmaster or web site is immune to prejudice or discrimination. Some sites will favor the hosts they use as opposed to the hosts with the best values and deals for webmasters. If you keep that fact in mind as you surf through these directories, you will be more than able to find the right service for you with the facts you are looking for as opposed to those listed by the web site you're viewing. Not all web sites will favor their host, but it's just a small tip to be on the lookout for as you search for yours.
