When you begin looking for web hosting, you will need to keep a few key points in mind to keep from losing out and spending more than is necessary. The first money-waster is spending a large amount of your budget adding email addresses and space you will not need.
When it comes to email addresses, consider whether you would ever need 25 email addresses. First, it can create confusion on your part. Second, most people do not care if they are sending everything to "staff" or "contact" or another generic email address. Having all of these emails is a waste if you are the sole person in your business and intend to keep it that way. Web hosting companies charge more for additional emails, so beware of this pitfall.
You will need enough space to hold your website. For most people, 25MB is enough to store your site. Paying for more means that unless you have a massive site with forums and hundreds upon hundreds of articles, you are paying for space that you cannot use. It is like paying for a 20x20 storage unit when you only need 10X10. With most web hosting companies, you can upgrade later. Start with the smallest amount of space you will need and go up if you need to later. There is no need to funnel money to a web hosting company if you will not be using the space.
