Teachers have the toughest job out there and that is why they need to find a web hosting provider that will be able to give them the quality web sites that they need, at prices that they can afford. Budget cuts are making it almost impossible for schools to be able to keep up with modern technology. Don't get me wrong, many schools host quality websites that are very informative about the school, but some are paying through the nose for it.
When schools want to keep parents informed about important news and school events, not to mention the school's curriculum etc. they are doing the same thing that everyone else is. They are building web sites. Unfortunately, school websites have to be interactive if they are going to compete with the other websites that are out there and that requires technology. However, that also requires computer savvy web builders and good software to keep it running.
You can get really good deals on your school's website if you can follow any of these tips.
1. Go to cheap web hosting providers that offer you no banner ads and pop ups. There really are some out there, you just have to look for them.
2. Design your website for offline content viewing and list your website at various link websites for the school system and/or creating a free website and offer link to your school's offline content for parental viewing. (This method is used a lot)
3. Have web savvy students to build sites for you as part of school projects, assignments and to show general school spirit.
4. Use students to maintain and update the website as often as needed for school credit.
5. Ask teachers and PTA members to volunteer their web building services or to donate software etc.
6. Try to use school fund raising to support the website and its maintenance.
