Web Traffic = Branding your Name
Branding means to make your name well known to everyone, like when people say Norton Anti-Virus, everyone knows what it is. This is what you want for your product. By doing this, you need to increase your web traffic. It is as simple as that. This type of process may be easy, but it does take a certain amount of time to become effective.
When starting out with your web site, you need to think about your domain name. If you pick a domain name that is easily brand able, it will make your web traffic growth much easier.
When you own your own web site and you are starting off your career in the business of the world wide web, web traffic suddenly becomes the most important part of your business. Whatever the product is that you are trying to sell is not helping anyone when no one knows that it exists. It may not be your goal to make tons of money on the internet, but I am sure that it is also your goal for people to use and take advantage of this product that you spent so much time putting together.
