Search engines increase web site traffic by allowing web users to find pages related to what they are searching for online. The more specific a site is geared towards what is being searched for, the greater the odds are that you'll soon find an increase in site traffic for your web page.
There are several ways to go about getting your web site listed on a search engine to eventually increase traffic. However, keep in mind, in some cases it takes up two months to get your web site actually listed on these search engines and for the most part, if you screw up, you'll never know because they web site search engines will never tell you.
The hardest way to get listed on a search engine is to manually submit your web site to each and everyone. This means filling out the same form over-and-over again until you're blue in the face or have carpal tunnel syndrome. If you're only going to be submitting to say, under ten, search engines, then, oing to the manual route - while laborious - wouldn't be that hard to do in about an hour's time.
If you're going to do more than ten at a time, it might be wise to invest in a search engine submission service. Usually free, but some will cost you a pretty penny, these sites take your imputed data on your web site and automatically submit it to hundreds, even thousands, of search engines across the world wide web on your behalf. Most services will e-mail you back a confirmation but other than that, you'll still be on your own as to actually getting placed.
