Also, because free domain names generally apply only to free web space provided by the same server, your consumers will experience longer loading times for the pages. Businesses will also suffer from the constant use of banner ads and pop ups. Of course, if this doesn't bother you, then by all means take advantage of the free services. New and small businesses will often get a boost from these free sites because they will not hinder business that may not have been there at all if it wasn't for free.
The verdict for the free domain name
All in all, I would say that it really depends on your personal preference when it comes to free domain names. Just know that free domain names come with catches. If you are ok with the catches that come with it, than there is no problem with free domain names.
You should know that free sites do suffer from a lot of down time and the free will disappear if you generate too much traffic. However, in the end, a free domain name website is great if you are just starting out. It never hurts to have one more venue to get your business out there.
