While there are some programs such as ASP which can only be used by a Windows server, basic HTML, JavaScript, Java, etc. can be mounted on any platform and still function with complete accuracy, so there is little problem in putting up your web site onto a Linux server even if you are using a Windows PC at home. In fact, if you are already hosting a web site on the web even if you are using a Windows PC chances are that you are already being hosted on a Linux server and might not even realize it.
Linux is very easy to use, and there is great manipulability in terms of files and hosting possibilities.
If you are using a program such as Front Page to create and upload your web sites, however, there might be some difficulty in uploading directly from this program to your Linux server. Because Front Page is a Windows based program, if you are using it to create your web site it is expecting to send the files that it is creating to a Windows server.
However, if you change the extensions in the program to ones designed to be used with a Linux server, you will be able to upload your web site onto a Linux server. This is not a huge deal, but it is a hassle that will be associated with using Front Page and Linux web server.
