One thing that we should all remember is that web hosting is not a product, it's a service. What do I mean by that? Well...too many people are seeing web hosting as an actual product to be sold to the highest bidder. Because of this, web designers are being given the demand that they need in order to charge us more money for their "product".
Think about it, how many stores have you gone to because they offer great prices; only to have them raise the prices on you later? They can do this because their lower prices have created a demand for something that they sell. They wait until we depend on their product and then they raise the prices on us. It is the basic property of marketing, which is supply and demand.
Web hosting services have seen that if they make us dependent on their services we will will pay as much as they say in order to keep them. How do they make us dependant in their services? Let's explore that.
A web hosting service knows that in order to get our business, they have to offer us something that their competitors do not offer. Most of the time it is the services at better fees. Of course, we the unsuspecting public take them up their better rates and put our websites on their servers. We register domain names with them, and now we need their servers in order to keep our websites.
