Tools to Monitor Web Site Traffic That We Generate
The most basic tool for monitoring web site traffic is called a counter. In its simplest form, a counter will keep track of the number of page loads that a web page receives. However, there are many far more advanced counters in existence, and many of these resources can be made available to you for free.
Your web hosting provider will very likely have traffic monitoring tools available to you for free with your web hosting package. Depending on the level of your package will most likely determine how advanced these monitoring tools are. A free or cheap web hosting package might give you a basic counter, while a more expensive service will most likely give you more.
However, there are many web sites online such as www.statcounter.com, which will monitor your web site traffic and give you great amounts of information on your web site traffic for free, as long as you do not exceed 1000 page loads in a day. If you do, the fee is minimal for the incredible service that they provide.
