Many people are now hosting their own web sites and are wondering if it is worth it to use free web hosting instead of paid services. This can be a frustrating question to answer at times because it all depends on the purposes and uses that the web site offers. Free web hosting sounds like a great idea initially, because all things sound better when they are accompanied by the word free. However, if you think about it, there are many things that are free that we do not get so excited about about.

Free web hosting is much like paid web hosting except that the services are greatly different in few but major ways. When it comes to your personal or business web site, you can never offer too much or too little as long as the website is exactly what you want it to be. However, it is possible to offer too much or too little to your visitors and using the free web hosting services often does just that.

When you are creating a website of your own, you want to get as many visitors as you possibly can. That is part of the excitement of having one. Free web hosting services are wonderful for hosting sites that offer general opinions, information, or personal interests, however they also have some pitfalls that are simply not there with paid web hosting services.

As long as there are young people and adults who are using their websites to express opinions or advice, the free services will always be in vogue. For minor or non-business related sites, freebies are always in demand. It is almost a waste of time to pay for web space for a site that is not going to generate any money for the owner. For the many people who do utilize these free web sites regularly, these services are not so bad. However, for the businessman, these websites leave much to be desired.
