Color in a web page is an important aspect of designing. Lets face it, it's hard to imagine a black and white web page these days. The importance of color needs no mention. Color is everywhere - it is omnipresent in this world. We see color all around us - in the deep aquatic sea, lush green meadows, and in the vibrant flora and fauna. Color is all around us that even when we sleep, we dream in color! Hence, color plays a pertinent role in a visual medium; especially in a web page where it's an integral part of the design concept.
The use of color in web design can have extreme reactions. Hence, an aesthetic taste in color is essential pre-requisite. The choice of color should be based on the nature of the web page design. For instance, if the web page design involves promoting a beach resort, then shades of blue and beige can be used. If the web page is on environmental conservation, then shades of greens and yellow can be experimented with.
When you have designed your web page with text and images, concentrate on the flow of information. Is the line of design directing the browser from top of the page to the bottom in a seamless fashion? Is there any distraction in the flow? If necessary, the line of the design needs to be altered for an eye-catching web page.
Equally important is the form of the web page. Observe the content in a web page to determine the associated form. For instance, do not view the text as individual lines but as a block of form. Similarly, the images and art works in the web page should be treated as shapes. This helps determine the basic form and hence the web design is viewed as a form in its totality. All the forms must direct you to from one to another, from top to bottom in an uninterrupted fashion.
