Ecommerce gives you the potential to break out into new markets but there are some things you need to know about web hosting in order to avoid being "taken".
Finding a reliable ecommerce host can be tricky. Every host will proudly display on their websites (genuine or not) customer satisfaction reports. Guarantees are promised all over (for example: 99.9% uptime, the best customer service and the cheapest price for what you get! ) but does this translate into good service?
To find out if an ecommerce web host is good you need to find out what previous customers and current customers have said. You need to know the good things and the bad things - and do not expect a hosting company to readily tell you what customers hate about their web services!
To find more objective responses to their ecommerce services check an online review. We have compiled a short list of some of our favorites.
1) HostingReviewed.Com - This site lists, compares, reviews, and rates their favorite and top ten hosts. We have found this site to be pretty reliable in its ratings but lacks a voting or commenting system for visitors to post their experiences.
2) WebHostMagazine.com - This site reviews and rates hundreds of services and categorizes them (you will want to look at ecommerce hosts). User reviews and ratings compliment the information and we have found this site to be most reliable!
You want to make sure, for two reasons, that your potential ecommerce host serves a lot of web sites. We would recommend that you host only with companies that serve at least 500 customers. There are two prominent reasons for this.
