Choosing .Com Domain Name Registrations Over The Others

Still, most people choose .com. It is by far the most common, and it has become common usage even for the less internet-savvy among us. We say the "dot come revolution," the "dot com industry." A few years ago, we had the .com bust. Many people automatically type .com after a site's name. They do not bother to remember the site; they simply use what is familiar. Having .net or .info, then, may cause you to lose people who do not take the time to check into your actual site.

If someone already owns the .com version of the site you want, choose another URL. You definitely don't want the hassle you will have later when your customers get confused between the sites. When you're going through the domain name registration process, then, you should consider whether you want to go against the grain and choose a non-.com site. Many people also mistakenly believe that .net and .info sites are not as legitimate.

That may be because they view the .com label as having some sort of validation that the others lack. Whatever the reason, it is probably best to go with .com for your domain name registration unless you have some compelling reason to do otherwise.
