What is a domain name? A domain name is a code of letters that stands for your IP address at your website or page. A domain name basically is the title of your site. Web searchers can type your domain name into the address bar to automatically go to your web site. Domain names are used because it is easier to remember names and phrases of businesses than it is to remember 182.55.78.1..........etc. For example if you wanted to go to WalMart.com you would just enter www.walmart.com instead of lengthy numbers that most people are likely to forget.
Creating a catching and memorable domain name is key to the success of your web pages and websites. For example any name brand store website can be found by simply entering the name of the store surrounded by www. and .com. Creating a domain name that has not already been used may prove to be difficult but there are places where you can purchase a domain name. Often times these companies will also help you create a domain name that works for your business.
Do you ever catch your self singing commercial jingles? Do you find that you remember the names of products and websites by association? This is why having a great domain name will pay off. You want people to remember your name, you want them to catch it. That is why we call it catchy. If it is catchy, it will stick in peoples memories better. Domain names replace a meaningless string of numbers into an easily remembered phrase or name.
