Some students just assume they need to buy their text books at their campus book store. This is not true. You can buy them anywhere. In fact, you should, because you can save a lot of money. One great source for inexpensive text books is amazon.com. They often have the same books that your school book store carries, but at much lower prices. Amazon is also a great place to buy used books.
If you happen to have a AAA card, you can get a 5% discount on any books at Barnes and Noble, but only through their web site at http://www.aaa.com/barnesandnoble. There are also several web sites that sell books exclusively to students at a reduced rate. Two of these are: studentbookworld.com and ecampus.com, but a quick search of "student books" on any search engine would most likely bring up a few more.
There are a lot of insurance companies out there these days that offer students reduced rates on health and dental insurance. Often there are pamphlets about this on campus. Some of these insurance companies can be found on web sites such as studentresources.com and estudentinsurance.com.
Another way for students to save money is with student discount cards. Websites such as studentadvantage.com offer cards that allow students to save on everyday items like cell phone service and movie theater tickets.
Keep your eye out for other price reductions for students and don't be afraid to just flat out ask if a company offers that type of discount. Every penny counts when you are scraping by in school. Make sure you take advantage of every discount that is available to you.
